Professional and affordable childcare for K-6 students DAY CAMP IN BRIEF The Fitch Mountain Day Camp Program began providing childcare services to the community’s kindergarten through sixth graders in the summer of 1985. Day Camp operates after school and summer programs year-round. DAY CAMP STAFF Susan Superfine Huffman: Day Camp Founder & Program Coordinator, since 1985 Vincent Mazzoli: Day Camp On-Site Director, since 1986 All staff members have been selected on the basis of their experience, education and ability to work effectively with children. THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM IS FOR *Students attending Fitch Mountain School (FMS), *Healdsburg Elementary School (HES) and *Healdsburg Middle School (6th graders) Program’s Location Located on the Fitch Mountain Campus, Fitch Mountain students walk directly to Day Camp while HES students ride district shuttle buses to Day Camp. Healdsburg Middle School students meet and walk to Day Camp as a group. Day Camp provides transportation on rainy days. After-School Program’s Hours Day Camp services are provided Monday – Friday. The After-School Program begins after the elementary schools are dismissed and is open until 6:30 pm. The program is open on “Teacher Work Days” and “Minimum School Days”. Day Camp is closed on school holidays. Summer Day Camp “Sign-ups” are in Spring. AFTER-SCHOOL DAY CAMP PROVIDES *Supervised time for homework, quiet play, group games, sports, dramatic play, art, crafts and snack time. *A rotation of activities focusing upon our natural environment, community, fitness, safety and understanding the multi-cultural world in which we live. Day Camp staff coordinates with teachers and parents to ensure that the academic, emotional and social needs of the children are being me. *CAMPERS IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING (CILT) is a special program for students in fifth and sixth grades (school year) and fifth- seventh grades (summer). CILT’S help with groups of younger children and practice how to be a leader in a leaderless group of their peers. *SUPERVISION-SMALLSTUDENT/COUNSELOR RATIO *On-Site Training for Healdsburg High School students Summer Day Camp * Begins the Monday following the last day of the school year. * Is for students entering Kindergarten through the seventh grades in the fall. SUMMER DAY CAMP HOURS 7:30 am – 6:30 pm, Monday – Friday Summer Day Camp offers the Day Camp children a safe haven….a consistent and secure environment, a compassionate setting where they can have fun, be physically fit and learn the value of community THE DAY CAMP PHILOSOPHY Day Camp is recognized for its success and commitment to its philosophy of conflict resolution and helping children to be responsible for themselves in a group. As part of the Day Camp community, campers learn to respect themselves, accept and respect each other, play fairly and deal with their conflicts in a non-aggressive, verbal manner. TUITION Day Camp is funded by parent tuition fees. Day Camp offers a sliding scale fee "camperships" to families who qualify for the district’s free and reduced meal programs.
